T42 Hobart

The food and service at this place are simply amazing. We picked this place one night in a hurry and the kitchen was about to close. Luckily, the staff member that served us was VERY nice and accommodating. We ended up having an excellent meal despite having to order quickly. The food was just awesome - we ordered the steak, the kingfish, the fried chicken, and the duck salad. One bite of each dish was enough to make us fall in love with them. The dishes were so flavourful and the meat was fresh, tender, and juicy. The ingredients worked so well together and they were very well balanced. The portion size was also perfect; not too small, not too big. For this high quality of food, the price was also very reasonable. We were so happy with the meal that the price felt very justifiable. We told ourselves that we would definitely come back again and try the other dishes and we did! We came back just 2 days later for a late lunch. It was a different server this time but he was also very helpful and welcoming. We sat by the window and ordered the salmon, the ocean trout, the beef tataki, the brussel sprouts, the steak (again) plus two desserts - the brownie and the white chocolate tart. MY OH MY, I just can’t think of any better word to describe the flavours other than out of this world! So fresh, unique, and flavourful. Everything was just *chefs kiss*. Oh and the view is perfect as well - just by the wharf and in front of the water. 100% would recommend T42 to others and would come back again for a third time!

Thank you Laura and the team at T42 tonight. WOW! What a magnificent meal, paired with a stunning Pinot Gris. The tuna sashimi, pan seared scallops and tandoori kingfish wings were a highlight. We will be back!

Delicious meals with a great view. Excellent service. The two salads were fantastic. Really full after them after skipping breakfast. Probably could share one to be honest. Great ingredients. Menu hasn't changed for years but it's still just as good. Recommended

I attended the Delamere Vineyards long lunch wine pairing. It was delicious and great value. I will be attending next year's luncheon again. T42 also has regular wine tasting sessions that I've seen advertised on Facebook. During lunch, I perused their regular food and extensive drinks menu. I'll be back for the seafood platter. ,...... Edit! I came back for the seafood platter. I absolutely recommend it due to the various components of delightful flavours.. So good. I'll be back to order other mouth watering dishes from their menu.

I recently tried out this restaurant at the harbor, and I was pleasantly surprised. They've got this sharing-style thing going on with the dishes, which I found pretty cool. It's a relaxed setup, great for hanging out with friends or having a casual dinner. The harbor view is a nice touch, adding a bit of charm to the whole experience. Nothing too fancy, but it works. What stood out for me was the service – friendly and down-to-earth. The staff had this easygoing vibe, making the whole dining experience more enjoyable. In a nutshell, if you're into good food, a laid-back setting, and service that keeps it real, this place by the harbor is worth a shot.

The food, ambiance and staff were all fantastic at this recommended restaurant when in Hobart. We shared the platter to start and that just got us excited for what else was to come. We shared a number of dishes which was the ethos of the restaurant and glad we did because we were able to try a few dishes. The miso salmon and cauliflower were superb. We loved the live music performance in the restaurant which added to the whole atmosphere. Definitely one to try for a nice occasion, date night or when in Hobart for a visit.

We were on the hunt for the perfect seafood platter to share and explored several spots along the pier. T42 stood out immediately for its focus on quality and freshness, unlike other places that seemed to prioritize quantity over taste with cheap fillers. Every bite of seafood was exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. We ordered a side of fries to go with the platter, which turned out to be more than enough for two. The prawns, in particular, were a highlight—plump, meaty, and absolutely delicious. We even noticed people walking by stopping to admire how amazing the platter looked on our table! On top of the incredible food, the service was impeccable. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly, making our experience even more memorable. We also loved the thoughtful touch of naming the restaurant "T42," which cleverly references its latitude of 42° 55'. It’s clear that every detail at T42 is carefully considered, and we couldn’t recommend it more for seafood lovers looking for a standout dining experience.
